Dell Inspiron Zino HD is a tiny home theatre PC  with HDMI port with an intention to push it as HD-ready mini PC. This mini PC directly competes with Apple’s Mac Mini and also Acer Aspire Revo on grounds of HD capability.

The Dell Inspiron Zino HD comes with a range of AMD Athlon processors which include AMD Athlon Neo X2 6850e, AMD Athlon X2 3250e, AMD Athlon 2850e and the AMD Athlon 2650e, the choice of up to 8GB of DDR2 RAM and a range og SATA II hard drives from 160GB up to 1TB. Dell Inspiron Zino HD measures just 7.8 inches by 7.8 inches.

Other specifications include Windows 7 Home Premium, or Windows Vista, an ATI Mobility Radeon HD3200, or ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330 graphics cards, plus built in WiFi.

Dell Inspiron Zino HD is available  in a range of 10 colors with a starting price tag of £299.

The base model comes with a 1.33GHz Intel Atom processor, 2GB of RAM, 80GB hard disk, GPS, 3G modem at a price of US$ $850.

The next model in the Vaio P range features a 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, 2GB of RAM and a 64GB SSD, plus a built in 3G modem and GPS, it will retails for $1,000.

The top end model comes with a 2GHz Intel Atom processor, 2GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD, plus built in GPS and a 3G modem, this one sells for $1,900, and all models should be available by the end of November.

Acer has just announced a new notebook to its range with the launch of the Acer Aspire 8940, which is Acer’s new flagship notebook with a range of high end features.

The Acer Aspire 8940 features a 1.6GHz Intel Core i7 720QM processor, an 18.4 inch Full HD widescreen display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080, 4GB of DDR3 RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250m 1GB graphics cards.

Acer Aspire 8940 comes with a 4 x Blu-ray / DVD Super-Multi double layer drive, a multi card reader, 802.11 a/b/g/n WiFI, a integrated Acer Crystal Eye web camera, and a touch capacitive media control interface.

The Acer Aspire 8940 also feature 5 USB 2.0 ports, 1 HDMI port, 1eSATA port and a 8 cell Li-Ion battery, it will come with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit. The estimated retail price for Acer Aspire 8940 is $1,350.

To help ease the pain of upgrading to their new Windows 7 operating system Microsoft has released a neat Windows 7 USB installer. The utility, Windows 7 USB Download Tool, creates a bootable flash drive from a downloaded .iso file, or disk image, of Windows 7, and can be purchased from Microsoft’s online store.

Microsoft has decided to give netbook users another option, though, and it is now possible to download different versions of Windows 7 to a USB drive. Here’s what the Microsoft Store has to say about it:

If you’ve got a netbook, you probably don’t have a CD or DVD drive – so you may be wondering how you can upgrade to Windows 7. We’ve got your answer. The Microsoft Store is the only place where you can get a downloadable version of Windows 7. Download Windows 7 directly onto a USB drive on your netbook – no CD or DVD drive necessary – and start taking advantage of the best Windows yet.

Your netbook can therefore be setup to boot from the USB device and the Windows 7 installation will commence. The only problem this might raise is the fact a BIOS change is required to get the netbook to boot from USB leaving less tech-savvy users in the dark as to how to go about doing this. No doubt guides will appear on the web before the day is over.

For the moment this offer only seems to be available through the U.S. version of the online Microsoft Store. When purchasing the upgrade you can choose between just a Download, or a Download + Backup disc option, which costs an additional $14.95. The options you have when it comes to versions is Home Premium, Professional, or Ultimate. There is no download available for Starter edition.
